Brandon Swing is a pianist and PhD student at the University of Colorado Boulder, and resides in Westminster, Colorado. After finding an interest in piano in high school, he started lessons at age 15. He received his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Union University in 2014, and his Master of Music in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the University of Memphis in 2017. Outside of his research and studies, Brandon has accompanied university vocalists and instrumentalists, independent adult choirs, and has provided weekly church service music for over a decade. Brandon believes that one of the most important parts of lessons is discovering what inspires and motivates his students, which only comes through developing a relationship. In his approach to learning music, Brandon emphasizes pianistic technique in service of musicality, built on a strong foundation of sight reading and working knowledge of tonal music theory and music history. Brandon is passionate about introducing students to the wonderful and diverse repertoire of piano music, as well as popular music, and piano arrangements of film and video game music.
