piano, voice, guitar and trombone
Hailing from the Driftless Region of Northwestern Illinois Scott Clements brings a multitude of different styles and cultures to his musical palette from jazz and bluegrass to classical and folk. He started studying piano, guitar and trombone in grade school, playing countless piano recitals, band concerts and garage band socials. Now Scott holds a Masters Degree from the University of Denver in Jazz and Commercial Music Performance; he gigs as a pianist, guitarist, and trombonist in jazz, classical and pop bands, performing for various festivals and private events. Amongst his hometown bluegrass heroes he picks the mandolin and pulls the upright bass to the old fiddle tunes of the Mississippi Valley and Appalachia. As an educator he has served as the Denver School of the Arts visiting artist, instructing middle school and high school low brass students, and has over a decade experience teaching private lessons to students of all ages on piano, strings, brass and voice. He is passionate about sparking his student’s interest in various forms of music and styles and prides himself in training multiple students who went on to pursue careers and degrees in music. As his undergraduate trombone professor Dr. Allan Horney would say, “If you can’t sing it, you can’t play it.”
